In the protected cradle of the lagoon, baby whales are born and begin learning the ballet of life in its calm waters. With each graceful sway of the tail, they paint memories of innocent joy and elation while exploring their azure blue liquescent world. With wide-eyed curiosity (and their mom’s permission), they will approach a small floating panga boat to inspect the top-of-the-water curiosities called humans. After a thrilling exchange of trusting friendship between to species from different worlds, these little cetaceans return to mom joyfully telling her about their new adventure with playful breaches and tender nuzzles. May the seas they encounter in their journey to the straits of Alaska cradle them in safety and waves of delight. As they migrate back each year, may I once again experience the miracle of such innocence and trust.
